Herts Hammer Posted November 26, 2007 Report Posted November 26, 2007 Hello. After the birth of our 4th baby, and the untimely demise of my 1998 mondeo, I thought it was time to join the grown ups and buy something that we could all fit into comfortably. Finally giving up any hope of ever owning a two seater sports car, I bit the bullet on Saturday and purchased a nice blue Galaxy, specs to follow. In some ways it felt like the ultimate end of my youth. Here I am at 33 years old, buying the worlds ultimate family car. What happened to my rebellion, sticking it to the man and cruising for chicks in a cool motor. On Saturday a little bit of me died. I'm now that little bit closer to a comfy armchair, slippers and snoring infront of the tv on a sunday afternoon. On the otherhand, I'm also a little bit closer to a divorce in my 40's, a midlife crisis, buying a porshe, becoming an alchoholic and having a 20 year old girlfriend. So not all bad. As my username might suggest, I'm a West Ham United Fan in Hertfordshire. Our Galaxy proved its worth on Sunday when it took the whole mob, including the 8 month old baby to the Boleyn Ground to witness our 1-1 draw with the North London enemy that play in white. It was a very comfortable way for us all to travel and gave me the first excuse to give it a run on the motorway. I've got to say, that despite my earlier protestations about the death of my ideals, the Galaxy is a good car. I like the styling, the interior, and the driving experience is actually quite enjoyable. I may yet actually come to enjoy owning it, regardless of what it represents. As promised here are the specs of our newest addition... 53 Plate Ford Galaxy 1.9 TDI 115 Ghia Blue67,000 miles5 speed Auto Box.Dual Aircon.Magnolia Leather interior.7 Seats.Heated front seats.CD multichanger.Privacy Glass.16" Alloys with 215/55 boots. mk2vr6 Posted November 26, 2007 Report Posted November 26, 2007 Ford Galaxy 1.9 TDI .................... those slippers are closer than you think pops ;) Quote
Herts Hammer Posted November 26, 2007 Author Report Posted November 26, 2007 Ouch. Your VR6 user name isn't making me feel any better. I've got a plan though. The Mrs gets a cash allowance in lieu of a company car for her job, and a fully expensed fuel card. Only thing is, the car has to be under three years old, and must be a diesel. She's currently got an 07 mondeo, and we wont finish paying for it for 2.5 years. So the plan is to get her used to the comfort and convenience of the galaxy, such that when she has to replace the mondeo, she choses a new Galaxy to do so. That will then leave me free to sell my Gal, and replace it with something a little more fitting my style. I'm currently envious of every Mazda RX8 that I see, but in three years time it could be something completely different. The Nissan 380zx looks rather smart too. Dad's not ready for his slipper fitting quite yet... Quote
mumof4 Posted November 26, 2007 Report Posted November 26, 2007 tell yer wot...swappsie for me smart wee vectra....she goes real fast ;) With 4 kids, those slippers are itching to be worn ;) Quote
Herts Hammer Posted November 26, 2007 Author Report Posted November 26, 2007 A Vectra? Did I mention that I hate Vauxhall? Apart from having an old man that worked for Fords his entire working life, I might have considered a Meriva or whatever its called to solve our people carrying issues. But the horrible adverts with the fat northern monkey kids being all stereotypical prevented me from ever considering one seriously. "Ah, they're tired...Don't mind if I do.....Might join you." - Load, aim, fire. Galhambrans, RenaultFiatCitroen things and Crystler Grand Voyagers made the list. The Galaxy, mostly through my brainwashed Ford is great upbringing (that, and the old man's employee discount benefits), eventually won out. Quote

Smilge Posted November 27, 2007 Report Posted November 27, 2007 Nice introduction matey and welcome from me to ..... had a giggle and thought ......... mmmmmm .... got a few years and kids to catch up with me ...lol. It's lovely when they start to disappear and your comment; That will then leave me free to sell my Gal, and replace it with something a little more fitting my style. Not until your 46 mate which is what I've done. To be honest, the Gal was a brilliant transporter of munchkins but SO boring! Anyway, good luck with yours from a Chelsea Supporter. Doh! Quote
